I’m Al. Most people call me Magic-Al, and I’ve spent the last 25 years working weddings up and down the country doing close-up magic and mind reading.
At a wedding I’m not there to hijack the day. I’m there to keep the drinks reception moving, get tables who’ve never met talking, and give your guests something to talk about besides the seating plan.
I’ve done this at hundreds of weddings, with every type of crowd, so I know how to read a room, who wants to get stuck in, and when to quietly move on to the next group.
There’s usually a bit of mischief involved somewhere along the way, but the job’s always the same: leave the room in a better mood than I found it.

When’s the best time to have a magician at a wedding?
Most couples book me for the drinks reception, since that’s when guests are mingling and waiting for photographs. Plenty also bring me in for the room turnaround after the meal, or into the evening reception once things loosen up.
Do you perform during the wedding breakfast?
Usually, no. I’ve got nothing against beef Wellington, I just don’t fancy competing with it. The magic works much better when guests have both hands free, rather than holding a fork in one and a glass of wine in the other. Drinks receptions and the evening reception give me proper room to mingle, cause a bit of trouble, and give your guests a much better experience.
How long should we book you for?
Typically one to two hours, usually covering the drinks reception. Some couples extend that to cover the room turnaround or evening reception as well, depending on how the day’s timed.
How many guests can you entertain?
Because I work in small groups and move naturally around the room, this works for an intimate wedding or several hundred guests over the course of a day. It’s about moving through the crowd, not performing to all of them at once.
Will our guests be forced to join in?
No. I read the room and work with whoever’s up for it. Nobody gets dragged into anything they’re not comfortable with.
Do you travel throughout the UK?
Yes. I perform at weddings across the UK, not just around one city, and I also cover destination weddings in Spain.
How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you’ve set a date, ideally. Popular wedding dates, especially summer weekends, get booked up well ahead of time.
How much does a wedding magician cost?
